The Lake Superior Area REALTORS® advances member success and represents the real estate industry across the region.

About LSAR

Lake Superior Area REALTORS®, Inc. (LSAR) is a professional trade association representing licensed real estate professionals across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Members of LSAR are also members of the National Association of REALTORS® and their respective state REALTOR® association. Our members are called REALTORS®, a title that reflects their commitment to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics.

LSAR is governed by its membership. A volunteer Board of Directors, elected by and from the membership, sets the organization’s priorities and oversees its operations. The Board is supported by standing committees, staffed by member volunteers who meet regularly and bring recommendations to the Board for final review and approval.

LSAR’s work is organized around four core functions:

  • Engagement — LSAR enforces the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, a standard of professional conduct that exceeds baseline state licensing requirements, and provides continuing education, leadership development, and networking opportunities for its membership.
  • Outreach — LSAR serves as a trusted resource on real estate trends and market conditions for consumers, media, and public officials, and supports civic and charitable initiatives across the region.
  • Innovation — LSAR maintains the Lake Superior Area REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service, connecting buyers and sellers, and ensures its members have access to current market technology.
  • Advocacy — LSAR represents the interests of REALTORS®, property owners, and industry stakeholders on housing and land use policy, engaging with local governments and community leaders to inform decisions that affect the region.

History

The Duluth Area Association of REALTORS® was founded in 1906 as a charter member of the National Association of REALTORS®, one of the organization’s earliest local affiliates in the region. The Superior Area Association of REALTORS® followed in 1910, establishing organized real estate representation on the Wisconsin side of the Twin Ports.

The two associations operated independently for more than a century, each serving its own side of the harbor. In August 2017, the two organizations merged to form Lake Superior Area REALTORS®, Inc., consolidating services, standards, and market data under one organization.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is composed of LSAR’s elected officers. It oversees daily governance and acts on behalf of the full Board of Directors between board meetings.
